Intrepid Product Testing

Product certification has always been at the core of Intrepid's vision and values. With the introduction of the Building Safety Act 2022, there is an increased onus on architects and specifiers to ensure construction products meet the required performance criteria. It has therefore never been more important to demonstrate the compliance of our products. Our panels are rigorously tested to the latest standards and in UKAS registered laboratories, so our customers can have total confidence that the products they use are fully certified for their particular application.

Fire Testing

Our products are tested to BS EN 1634-1 +A1:2018 in a range of supporting constructions, including rigid blockwork, standard flexible partitions, and other associated constructions. Many of our products are also bi-directionally tested, giving some of the broadest coverage available in the market today.

Certified products are available for use in both walls and ceilings.

Smoke Control Testing

Panels are tested to BS EN 1634-3:2004. This is a cold smoke test where the panels are subjected to different levels of positive and negative air pressure and the air leakage through the panel is measured. Smoke sealed panels meet the maximum permitted leakage rate of 3m³/m/h at a pressure of 25Pa as set out in Approved Document B for Fire Safety.

Acoustic Performance Testing

Intrepid offer a wide range of acoustically tested products to suit a variety of applications where noise transference needs to be kept to a minimum. Products are tested to BS EN ISO 10140-2 and sound reduction results are given in decibels (dB). Acoustic products are available for use in walls and ceilings, and range in performance from 29dB up to 41dB.

Air Sealed Testing

Access panels with additional seals to minimise air leakage are often used in hospital and clean room situations where it's important to maintain a controlled environment. Panels are tested to BS EN 1026:2000 and can also be supplied with an antibacterial coating where necessary to ensure the installation doesn't have a negative impact on the room as a whole.
